| Subject: Satay Tue May 15, 2007 7:20 am | |
| Satay...............Yummmmmmyyy...I like it :PSatay (also written saté) is a dish consisting of chunks or slices of dice-sized meat (chicken, mutton, lamb, beef, pork, fish etc) on bamboo skewers, which are grilled over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasoning (depends of satay recipe varients). It may be served with a spicy peanut sauce dip, or peanut gravy, slivers of onions and cucumbers, and ketupat. Pork satay can be served in a pineapple based satay sauce or cucumber relish.
p/s: Ketupat is a type of dumpling made from rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch which is then boiled.Ketupat nasi is made from white rice and is wrapped in a square shape with coconut palm leaves while ketupat pulut is made from glutinous rice is usually wrapped in a triangular shape using the leaves of the fan palm (Licuala). Ketupat pulut is also called "ketupat palas" in Malaysia.

| Yummy....
Mee rebus (literally boiled noodles in English),The dish is made of yellow egg noodles, which are also used in Hokkien mee, with a spicy slightly sweet curry-like gravy. The gravy is made from potatoes, curry powder, water, salted soya beans, dried shrimps, and peanuts. The dish is garnished with a hard boiled egg, calamansi limes, spring onions, Chinese celery, green chillies, fried firm tofu (tau kwa), fried shallots and bean sprouts. Some eateries serve it with beef.

| Roti Canai !~~!~!
Roti canai or Roti Chennai,Roti means bread in Hindi, Urdu, most other North Indian languages, and Malay. The term "canai" derives from "channa", a mixture of boiled chickpeas in a spicy gravy from Northern India which it was traditionally served with. The dish is composed of dough containing copious amounts of fat, egg, flour and water. The form of fat used is usually ghee (clarified butter). The entire mixture is kneaded thoroughly, flattened, oiled and folded repeatedly. It is then allowed to proof and rise, and the process is repeated. The final round of preparation consists of flattening the dough ball, coating it with oil and then cooking on a flat iron skillet with a lot of oil. The ideal roti is flat, fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside.Traditionally, it is served with dal or 'dhal' (lentil) curry, which in North India is prepared with chana dal. It can sometimes be taken with sugar or condensed milk.Thosai is a thin lacey pancake made of lightly-fermented rice flour. Goes great with dhal and coconut sambars.
